Rio De Janeiro Brazil

Get to know the real city

Go into the places only locals are familiar with. Visit little known hideouts and avenues that open the mind into what being a local is all about.

Go off the beaten track

You must have a Brazilian VISA to enter Brazil as of when this blog was written (3/12/2019). They’re working on removing this requirement for those with American passports, you’ll want to double check on this to make sure you’re prepared! Another requirement tied to your Brazilian Visa is to have it printed and with you upon arriving at the Brazilian airport. This is stated in tiny fine print on the bottom of your Brazilian Visa. I didn’t read the fine print so didn’t have it printed. Let’s just say it took 1-2 hours for immigration to print it out for me. Print and have your visa with you at the airport! There are plenty of taxi’s and Uber’s at the airport. One thing we quickly learned is most vehicles have a huge gas tank in the trunk really limiting space for your luggage. We went through 3 Uber’s before getting our bags to fit! Pack in smaller roller bags, backpacks, or order an XL Uber to save yourself some time! Bring your most comfortable walking/hiking shoes! Don’t learn the hard way like I did! Most of the roads in Rio are uneven cobble stones up hill (felt like a mountain).
